Today’s Daily Prompt is A Plot of Earth. I’ve been given a plot of land and have the financial resources to do as I please. As a writer surrounded in fiction it’s my pleasure to present to you the world’s coolest bookstore.
I’ve decided to launch Club GeNre (Spelling is correct) in New York City. It’s the size of a large shopping mall, four stories high, with a parking garage on the first and third floor. This isn’t just any bookstore, but a writer’s dream.
Club GeNre will hold bi-weekly writers conferences, book signings, book festivals, and places for writers to network. We’ll have a coffee shop on the first floor, a significant upgrade to those once seen in Borders bookstores. General admission is cheap and the perks are plentiful. We aim to please all writers, published and unpublished, and of course readers of all genres.
It gets better. We’re open 24 hours a day, people. We’re serving cocktails and other alcoholic beverages starting at 7 p.m. (bring ID). The fourth floor will be available for dancing and partying for you club people. Bestselling authors get VIP admission. Sorry, it’s only fair.
Here’s a rundown of other amenities we’ll be offering:
- 24-Hour Valet Parking
- High-Speed Internet
- Trained Security Officers
- Celebrity Guests
- Swimming Pool
- Breathtaking Overlook View
- National Media Coverage
- And much more!
The rules are simple. Don’t break any laws, unless you can provide legit reason for doing so. And if you’re a writer/reader, I’m sure you’ll fit in just fine.
Ha! See, I could be an entrepreneur one day. Anyone interested in joining me? Does this seem to good to be true? Let me know.

Not sure if I care about celebs gracing the place. Can we have a spa and maybe some Zen oasis types of retreats and then a 3D 180 degree theater screen to view footage of countries, adventures, anything— for added writing inspiration?
